Customized, Personalized Admission Scholarship and Awards 2008-2009

 

  • To be considered for scholarship consideration, students  must submit the following by December 1, 2007
    • Completed and signed UT application for Admission
    • $40 non-refundable admission application fee
    • Official high school transcripts
    • Official ACT and/or SAT scores
  • To maximize total aid package The University of Toledo strongly encourages everyone to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by visiting www.fafsa.ed.gov by the April 1, 2008 priority deadline.
  • Scholarship priority postmarked deadline is December 1, 2007.
Base Awards

Based on the GPA, ACT/SAT scores, and curriculum students could be eligible for one of The University of Toledo's base scholarships listed below.

Tower Blue Award

  • $1,000-$4,000
  • Requirements: GPA between 3.0-3.49 and an ACT score between 20-25 (SAT between 940-1160)

 Rocket Gold Award

  • $4,000-$8,000
  • Requirements:  GPA of 3.5 or higher and an ACT score between 26-36 (SAT between 1170-1600).
Scholarship Add-ons

The scholarships listed below are considered add-ons and can be added onto the base awards

 First Generation Award

  • Variable award up to $8,000
  • Minimum requirement is a 3.0 GPA and 20ACT/940 SAT

 Legacy Award for Out-of-State Students

  • Variable award up to $8,800
  • This award assists with the out-of-state surcharge
  • Eligible requirements: students that are admissible to UT and whose parent or legal guardian is a University of Toledo or former MCO/MUO alum

 National Rocket Award for Out-of-State Students

  • Variable award up to $8,800
  • This award assists with the out-of-state surcharge
  • Minimum requirements: 3.0 GPA or 21 ACT/980 SAT for half of out-of-state surcharge
  • To further maximize award, students must participate in an on-campus essay competition (There are no GPA requirements to compete, the student must be admissible to UT)
  • Further details regarding the essay competition will be sent upon receipt of the student’s admission application

As a general rule, the maximum amount of institutional aid awarded for out-of-state students is $12,000.


Competitive Scholarship Awards

 Competitive Award

 Presidential Scholarship

  • This four-year prestigious scholarship covers full in-state tuition, general fees (up to 16 credit hours), room and board, and provides a one-time, $3,000 stipend for summer experience.
  • Only four scholarships are awarded each year to incoming freshmen.
  • Minimum requirements: 3.8 GPA and 30 ACT/1320 SAT
  • To apply students need to submit the required materials noted online at www.utoledo.edu/admission/founders (extracurricular resume, personal essay and reference letters) In addition to a completed application for admission
  • Postmarked deadline: December 1, 2007.

Rules & Regulations

 Renewal Eligibility Requirements

  • Awards are renewable for eight semesters not to exceed five consecutive calendar years or the completion of an undergraduate degree, whichever comes first, unless otherwise noted. 
  • Students must be enrolled full-time each semester and complete a minimum of 30 semester hours each academic year. 
  • Students must maintain a cumulative college GPA of 3.0 each academic year for scholarship renewal, unless otherwise noted.

 General Scholarship/Award Policies

§         GPA requirements are based upon a minimum six semesters of high school academic performance.

§         Award adjustments are based on availability of funds.

§         Although UT requires at least one writing sample for ACT/SAT, the score of that section is not included for scholarship considerations. 

§         Awards must be used to pay for full-time, in-state tuition/out-of-state surcharge and general fee (up to 16 hours) and will be used toward the payment of costs incurred at UT.

§         An award letter will be sent to recipients upon receipt of application and verification of eligibility.
